General FAQs
Already Doing It is a platform that connects prospective students and those considering further education with current students and recent graduates. Mentors provide honest, firsthand insights to help mentees make informed decisions about courses, universities, and career paths.
Sessions can be booked by anyone aged 16 or older. Mentees under 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the beginning of the session. Bookings for anyone under 16 are not accepted.
Our mentors are verified undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students who have real experience with the courses and institutions they represent. All mentors have undergone safeguarding training and must follow our platform rules to provide safe, helpful sessions.
Mentor sessions are online via Google Meet and last 30 minutes (unless otherwise stated). The session is led by the mentee’s questions, with the mentor using a prepared slideshow to guide the discussion. Mentors are trained to ensure every session is informative, honest, and safe.
For any questions not answered here, please email: hello@alreadydoingit.co.uk.

We offer three types of student mentor sessions, based on the mentor’s verified education status and experience:
1. Current Undergraduate Student Sessions
These sessions are led by mentors who are currently studying (or have very recently completed) an undergraduate degree. They’re ideal if you want insight into day-to-day student life, course content, workload, and what it’s really like to study a subject at a specific university.
2. Graduate Sessions
These sessions are led by mentors who have completed their undergraduate degree. They’re well-suited for students who want reflective insight, hindsight, and advice about outcomes, employability, or what they wish they’d known earlier.
3. Postgraduate Student Sessions
These sessions are led by mentors currently studying a postgraduate qualification (such as a Master’s or PhD). They’re helpful if you’re considering postgraduate study or want to understand academic progression beyond undergraduate level.
Mentor categories are based on verified information at the time of review and are updated periodically. Some current undergraduate student mentors may be recent graduates who completed their studies within the current academic year.
You can book a session up to 29 days in advance. If you want to plan further ahead, check back regularly as new slots will open as mentors update their availability.
You will receive an email with instructions along with a google meet link once you have booked your session.
We recommend joining the meeting on a laptop or desktop for the best experience, rather than a phone or tablet.

Yes, you can cancel up to 48 hours before the session via your dashboard and by emailing hello@alreadydoingit.co.uk. Sessions canceled less than 48 hours before the start time are not eligible for a refund, except in exceptional circumstances.
If a mentee is more than 15 minutes late, the mentor may log out and mark the session as “No Show”. Mentors will wait at least 15 minutes to allow for technical difficulties. Sessions are not extended if the mentee arrives late, and mentors will not be paid extra for extending the session.
Payments and Refunds FAQs
Pricing varies depending on the mentor and session type. You can see the exact cost when selecting your mentor and session time. All prices are clearly displayed before you confirm your booking. As a guideline, a standard 30-minute mentorship session starts at £30.
Refunds are available if:
The mentee cancels at least 48 hours in advance.
The mentor cancels the session.
The mentor is unable to complete the session due to technical issues.
Refunds are processed via Stripe and may take up to 10 business days to appear. For more information please read our Refunds & Cancellations Policy.
If the mentor loses connection, they must attempt to rejoin immediately. If the session cannot continue within 5 minutes, the mentee is eligible for a full refund.
If the mentee has connectivity issues, the mentor remains available, and the mentor still receives payment for the booked slot.
Mentors are not paid extra for extending sessions beyond the booked time.
For more information please read our Refunds & Cancellations Policy.
Yes. Promo codes can be applied at the time of booking. Refunds and cancellation rules for promo-code sessions follow the same terms as paid sessions.
Safeguarding FAQs
All sessions follow our strict safeguarding policy. Mentors are trained in safeguarding procedures, and bookings are only accepted for mentees aged 16 and over. For mentees under 18, a parent or guardian must be present at the start of the session. Sessions for anyone under 16 are not accepted.
We have a dedicated safeguarding procedure. Any concerns raised are treated confidentially and investigated promptly. Mentors are trained to act if there are safeguarding concerns during a session. You can also report concerns via our Safeguarding page.
Safety is our top priority. Users must be at least 16 years old to book a session. If a mentee is 16 or 17, a parent or guardian must be present at the start of the session. Sessions with users under 16 are not permitted.
Mentors are trained in safeguarding procedures and must stop any session where rules for under-18s are not followed. Any concerns about inappropriate behaviour, breaches of platform rules, or issues involving minors should be reported immediately.
All safeguarding reports are handled confidentially, reviewed promptly, and managed by our Designated Safeguarding Lead, trained to Level 3 Safeguarding Children standard.
For full details, please see our Terms & Conditions.
Mentor-Specific FAQs
You can apply through our platform here.
Mentors earn a minimum of £12 per 30-minute session booked, with payment processed through Stripe once the session is complete. While this role is designed to provide supplementary income, it’s a great opportunity to gain experience, help other students, and earn money on a flexible schedule. Please note that earnings may vary and should not be considered a reliable or guaranteed source of income.
Mentors should wait at least 15 minutes. If the mentee does not join, the mentor logs a screenshot and marks the session as a No Show. Mentors are still paid for this period but are not obligated to extend the session.
Mentors should attempt to rejoin immediately. If the session cannot continue within 5 minutes, the mentee receives a full refund, and the mentor is not paid for that session.
Mentor payments are processed through Stripe 31 days after the booking is made.
This delay allows time for the session to take place and for any valid cancellation or refund requests to be resolved in line with our policy. Once your payout is released, no deductions will normally be made from your account.
In exceptional circumstances — such as serious breaches of platform rules, safeguarding concerns, or confirmed misconduct — we reserve the right to recover refunded amounts from a mentor’s account, even after a payout has been processed.
If a session is cancelled or refunded before your payout is released, the payment for that booking will simply not be paid out.
All Stripe processing fees for refunds are covered by us.
