Here are the questions we are most commonly asked by students, parents, schools and universities. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, contact us at hello@alreadydoingit.co.uk.

For students and parents

What is Already Doing It?

Already Doing It is a UK platform connecting sixth form students with vetted university students and graduates for honest 1:1 video sessions before they choose their degree.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions cost £30 and last 30 minutes. Some schools offer sessions at reduced or zero cost through their pilot programme. Contact your school’s Careers Leader to find out if your school is participating.

How do I find a mentor?

Visit alreadydoingit.co.uk, search by subject and university and browse mentor profiles. Booking takes less than five minutes.

Is it safe?

Yes. All mentors are identity verified and have completed safeguarding training. Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the start of the session. Our full safeguarding policy is at alreadydoingit.co.uk/safeguarding-policy.

What happens in a session?

Sessions are 30 minutes via Google Meet. You lead the conversation with your questions. Your mentor answers honestly about their experience of studying your chosen subject at your chosen university.

Can I choose my own mentor?

Yes — you choose your mentor based on their subject, university and personal profile. You are never assigned a mentor.

What subjects and universities are covered?

Already Doing It covers over 300 subject and university combinations across every major UK university including Oxbridge, Russell Group and specialist institutions.

For schools and Careers Leaders

What is the free pilot?

The free pilot includes 10 fully funded sessions for selected Year 12 or 13 students, full safeguarding oversight, pre and post session surveys and a complete Impact Report formatted for Gatsby Benchmark evidence. Cost to the school is £0.

Which Gatsby Benchmarks does Already Doing It evidence?

Every session evidences Gatsby Benchmarks 2, 3 and 7. Sessions with graduate mentors in employment additionally evidence Benchmark 5.

How much admin is involved for school staff?

None. Already Doing It handles all scheduling, safeguarding, surveys and reporting. Your only involvement is sharing the booking link with students.

How do we apply for a pilot?

Contact Dan at hello@alreadydoingit.co.uk or call 0121 409 1690. Pilot places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis.

For universities
