Our Independence Standards

Already Doing It arranges honest one-to-one conversations between sixth formers and university students. Schools, universities and families pay us to do that. Here is exactly what that funding does and does not buy, so you can judge for yourself.

1

We do not work for any university.

We are an independent company. No university owns a share of us, sits on our board, or approves what we publish.

2

Uni Insiders are paid for their time, never for outcomes.

A Uni Insider is paid a fixed fee for delivering a session. The amount never changes depending on what they say, whether you apply anywhere, or where you end up going. There are no bonuses, targets, commissions or referral fees anywhere in what we do.

3

Funding a conversation is not controlling it.

Where a university, trust or school funds sessions, that funder can ask us to reach a particular group of students, can ask for Uni Insiders from its own institution, and can prioritise particular courses. It cannot choose which individual Uni Insiders take part, brief or script them, see what any individual student said, or ask us to remove a finding it does not like from its report.

4

We tell students who paid, and who they are speaking to.

Before you book, we tell you whether your session is funded by your school, by a university, or paid for by your family. Where a university has funded sessions delivered by its own students, we say so clearly before you book. Independently run is not the same as unconnected, and we will not blur the two.

5

Uni Insiders are free to be negative.

We train Uni Insiders to say what they found hard, what they would do differently, and that a course or university may not be right for the person in front of them. A session where you decide not to apply somewhere has worked.

6

We report what we find, including the unwelcome parts.

Our reports to funders include findings that do not flatter them. In our 2026 pilot, 5% of students became less likely to apply to the university they spoke about, and we reported it.

7

What a funder actually sees.

Grouped, anonymous information only: themes, confidence shifts, subject interest, and how many students want further support. Never an individual student's answers, and never any figure covering fewer than six students.

8

What a Uni Insider is, and is not.

A Uni Insider gives one person's honest experience. They are not a careers adviser, an admissions officer, or an objective verdict on a university. Use open days, prospectuses and your school's careers team as well.

These standards are written into our Uni Insider agreement, our training course and our institutional contracts. If you think we have fallen short of them, tell us at hello@alreadydoingit.co.uk
