Who we are

Already Doing It Ltd runs the sessions that connect you with a Uni Insider, a real university student or recent graduate, for an honest one-to-one conversation. Our full legal Privacy Policy is on this site; this page is the plain version, written for you.

What we collect from you, and why

When you book: your name, email and phone number, so we can arrange your session, plus your age band. If you are 16 or 17 we ask you to confirm a parent or guardian will be there at the start, because that is part of how we keep sessions safe.

Before your session: a short reflection about what you hope to get out of it, and some questions about how you are feeling about your options. Your Uni Insider sees only your first name, your age band and the one line about what you are hoping for. They never see anything else you write.

After your session: a few questions about how it went. Your answers help us prove the sessions work and make them better.

Optional postcode: if you choose to give it, we instantly turn it into a single number from 1 to 5 that describes your area, and the postcode itself is thrown away, never stored.

What your school can add

Your school can record two things about you on our system. First, whether you count as disadvantaged in the records your school already keeps; that is your school's information and your school stays in charge of it, we just hold it for them, and it only ever appears in reports as an anonymous percentage. Second, only if you ticked yes to the outcome question, whether you went on to apply to the university you spoke with, and whether you enrolled.

If you booked on your own

Some people book a session with us directly, without going through a school, sometimes a parent books it. If that's you, no school is involved at all: only our own small team sees your booking and what you write, and we use it just to run and improve your session. If a parent booked for you, the confirmation and any summary go to the email address they used.

If someone else books for you

If someone else books your session, for example your parent, they tell us your first name and your age (16, 17 or 18+), and the email and phone number for the session, which might be theirs. If they pay, they also give their own email so we can send them the receipt. Your Uni Insider only ever sees your first name, your age and that a parent or family member booked. You can still ask to see or delete the information we hold about you, and if the session details are your parent's, we'll ask them to share this page with you.

Who sees what

• Your Uni Insider: first name, age band, your one hopes line. Nothing else.
• Your school: how you are getting on with the programme and, if you consented, your outcome. If your school funded your session, it can also see whether you missed a session or cancelled it late, with the date, so it can keep track of the sessions it paid for. Your survey answers and opinions only ever reach your school as grouped numbers, never as "what you said".
• Universities: anonymous grouped numbers only, never your name, and never anything based on fewer than 6 students.
• Quotes: if you agreed to share a quote, we use it without your name, or with your first name only if you chose that and a parent or guardian is happy. We might use it in reports, on our website, on social media or in advertising. We never use a photo, video or recording of your voice in a paid advert if you're under 18. You can tell us to stop using your quote at any time.
• Anything you type in an open text box is read only by the small ADI team and is never shared with anyone.

Recording and observation

Sessions are never recorded by anyone, including us, and you agree not to record them too. Very occasionally we may ask, before your session, whether someone from the ADI team can quietly join to check quality and keep everyone safe. They say hello at the start, then just watch, and nothing is recorded or written down. You can say no, and saying no changes nothing about your session.

How long we keep things

We keep your name and contact details for 2 years after you last use the service, or longer only if you asked us to stay in touch, and then we delete them. After that, your answers survive only as anonymous numbers that cannot be traced back to you. Your school can see your named record for your school year plus three more years, then it becomes anonymous too.

Your choices

We need your name, email and phone number to arrange and run your session, so those are required. Everything else we ask permission for is separate, none are pre-ticked, and you can say no to any of it and still have your session. You can change your mind at any time. There is a working "delete my data" option: ask and your details are removed, properly, and we have tested it.

Keeping the site safe

Our website uses a Google tool called reCAPTCHA on our safeguarding reporting form to stop spam and automated abuse. It works quietly in the background and shares some technical information, like your device and browser details, with Google. Advertising

Advertising. You can let us use your videos in our advertising in two ways. First, on the intro-video form you can give optional, free permission to use the video you submitted; this is based on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by emailing hello@alreadydoingit.co.uk, we'll stop within seven days. Second, if we ask you to film fresh content for an advert, you agree a separate paid release for that video; because that is a paid agreement we rely on our legitimate interests rather than your consent, so that licence is not withdrawable, but you keep the right to object or ask us to erase your data (we reply within one month), and we will always correct or remove an advert that is inaccurate or misrepresents you.

How we know which advert you came from

If you reach us from one of our adverts, we note which advert it was from the web address, and self-paid bookings can tell us "how did you hear about us". We use this only to see how well our adverts are working. We don't use cookies, we don't store anything on your device, and we don't use the Meta Pixel.

If you live outside the UK

This section is for students who live outside the UK, and for their parents or guardians. Everything else on this page still applies to you: what we collect, who sees what, that sessions are never recorded, and that you can ask us to delete your data at any time. This section explains the few things that are different.

Where your information is kept

Already Doing It is a UK company. When you book, your information comes to us in the UK and is looked after under UK data protection law (UK GDPR). Some of the services we use to run sessions, such as video calls, email and payments, may handle it in other countries too. Wherever it goes, we protect it to the same standard and use it only in the ways this page describes.

Your parent or guardian's agreement

If you are under 18 and live outside the UK, we ask your parent or guardian to agree to you booking and to the way we handle your information, as described on this page. If your school has arranged your sessions, it will usually ask your parent or guardian for this on our behalf. If you book yourself, please only book once your parent or guardian has read this page and agreed. A parent or guardian must also be there at the start of every session, and your Uni Insider will check with them that they are happy for the session to go ahead. Your parent or guardian can withdraw their agreement at any time by emailing us, and we will stop using your information and delete it, unless we have to keep something to keep someone safe.

How we protect you as someone under 18

We use the most private settings by default. We collect only what we need to run your session and show that sessions help. We never sell your information and never use it to target adverts at you.

If we are worried about your safety

If something said in a session makes us worried about your safety or someone else's, we may share what we need to with your school's safeguarding lead, or, if someone is in immediate danger, with the emergency services or child protection authorities where you live. We would only ever do this to keep someone safe.

Your rights

You, or your parent or guardian, can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and can withdraw agreement at any time. Email hello@alreadydoingit.co.uk and a real person will reply. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk, the UK regulator for data. You may also have rights under the data protection law of the country where you live, such as the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, and nothing on this page takes those away.
